Father Mike was very instrumental in bringing the Knights of Columbus to St. Joseph Church. The James C. Fletcher Jr. Council 1422 of the Knights of Columbus was established September 15, 1994. The council was named after James C. Fletcher Jr., who was a dedicated parishioner, a resident of Glenarden and a Prince Georges County Council Member.
Men from St Joseph and surrounding parishes were recruited as charter members by Father Mike and with the help of parishioners such as William Bell, Robinson Gary, Joseph Marshall and Judge William Missouri, the council began its service to the church. Father Mike became the Charter Chaplain of the council. Since that time the Knights have introduced Halloween party for the kids, Mardi Gras affair for the adults, Lenten fish frys and summer flea markets.
